The first thing I noticed when I picked up this book was that it was dedicated to the men and women working to stop human trafficking through the International Justice Mission.
Art,and the travesty of human trafficking are subjects that this author is passionate about and her passion shines through as she takes the reader on a breathless journey from the top levels of government to the Mayan jungle and back. The characters are deeply engaged in their faith, but flawed enough to keep it believable.
Desi Jacobs is an internationally renowned security expert, brought in by the Mexican government to protect a priceless Mayan artifact from being stolen by local druglords. She is engaged to an FBI agent who works in the human trafficking divison and she brings him in on the case. After several brushes with death she ends up back in the states only to have the artifact stolen from her and her childhood home blown up.
There are numerous other twists, turns and near misses, but you will have to read the rest of the story for yourself!
