This week has been one of those weeks where you think. Think too much. I have been thinking about what it means to live simply in a world of chaos. Simply. Simple needs, simple wants, simple pleasure, simple faith
Simplicity is different for every person. I am realizing that simplicity, for me, is not giving away all my belongings but more a humbled attitude towards time and how I spend mine. Simplicity for me is taking the time to rest in Jesus. To take the time to worship.
Today helped me put some of the weeks thoughts into perspective. I attended a new church this morning. It is always scary walking into a new church and I almost did not go. I was sitting in the parking lot watching people go in and telling myself that I would not fit in and would not enjoy this service. So I went to another church (one I really did not want to go to) and sat down. Sitting there something kept telling me to get up and head over to the other church - so one minute before church started I got up and went across the hall to the other church (they both meet a local movie theater). From the second I walked in I felt a kind of weight lifted.
Worship started and the time was just what I needed. There were two worship songs that I did not know and both hit me right where I was. One was called “The Grateful”.
Each day You’ve given, Each debt forgiven
Each breath, these are a gift from You
Our hearts are filled with the joy of your goodness
This thanks we want to give to You
We are the grateful, we sing of Your love
We sing of your mercy
We are the grateful, the grateful ones
The next song was the song that brought me to write this post and realize how simple faith really is. It is a song written by the worship leader at the church and honestly one of the best worship songs I have ever heard. Healing Streams
Will You hide me in your shelter, will You shade me with Your wings
When the heat of the day consumes me, let me drink from healing streams
Drink from healing streams
Will you lift my heavy burdens, will You pave my path with peace
And when the road is steep and stony, let me bathe in healing streams
Bathe in healing streams
When the joy of morning tarries, when the waves of darkness roll
Will you shine Your light of faithfulness, giving courage to my soul
Courage to my soul
Will you lead me to repentance, will you make temptations flee
When I’m filled with condemnation, will You show Your scars to me
Show Your scars to me
And in the place where trouble waits, Lord, I shall not fear
The Comforter, The Counselor, The Savior is here
The words to this song have been in my head all day and have carried me through the day. When the thoughts started overwhelming me I took a step back and said “And in the place where trouble waits, Lord, I shall not fear…the Savior is here”.

Very cool, Reba. It’s good to know that Jesus is with us, “always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:20

I was looking for the same song to buy, “The Grateful”, and your site was the only thing that came up when I googled the lyrics. I finally found it though, the song is by Tim Timmons. He has a website timmonsmusic.com
I thought you might like to know too, or maybe you already knew, but oh well.

Great post. I totally know how you feel about visiting a new church! I’ll have to be doing that soon when I move, and I’m not looking forward to that part very much. :-/
