Tonight is a great music night here in music city. Brooke Fraser is playing 3rd & Lindsley and Robbie Seay Band is playing a showcase at the Rutledge.
I have never seen Robbie Seay Band before and let me just say I HEART me some Robbie Seay Band! I first heard them several years ago and their ‘Better Days’ cd kind of went into permanant rotation on my iPod.
It was 2005 and hurricane Katrina just hit New Orleans. I was in Yosemite coming home from an event that Brennan Manning was supposed to be speaking at, but he was in New Orleans when Katrina hit and no one had heard form him yet. It was strange to be sitting up in the wonderful beautiful mountains thousands of miles away from the disaster and yet so close that the heaviness loomed over everyone. I was driving home and decided to put on the ‘Better Days’ cd I had burned — from the first moment I was hooked.
First of all, thanks for listening to our song,
We hope this finds you driving in your car,
Or wherever you are,
Breathe out and breathe again,
Know that life is hard,
But it’s worth the breathing.Listen to me now,
For love, oh love,
It’s waiting for you just to say:Here come better days,
And here come better days,
Better days, and a better place I know.Secondly, I’m all messed up so royally,
And I stumbled my way here,
But wait, oh wait,
Grace has found me,
Shaken up my soul,
Grace will follow,
Wherever you will go,Listen to me now for grace, oh grace,
Is calling for you just to say:Here come better days
And here come better days,
Better days, and a better place I know.
Needless to say the CD and the song played such a huge part of my life as I swirled down the mountain and back to my safe home.
Brooke Fraser :
I am not sure how I first heard about Brooke but I have been listening to her for a couple of years. I first saw her in concert about a year ago and it was such an awesome show! (pics and small review). Brooke is someone I have championed on my blog for quite a while (though for some reason I can not find the posts…sigh). She is just an amazing performer and she has such a heart. Her music moves me to be a better person.

I’ve been a Robbie Seay fan but for some reason I had never heard the song “Better Days.” I just listened to it and bought it on iTunes. Wow. Not only is it a great song but the lyrics are very relevant to what I’m going through right now. Thanks for the post.
Oh, and I’m jealous that you get to go to all these great shows!!
