Last night I went to one of my dream shows! Idina Menzel was in Nashville and the show was absolutely amazing! I had 4th row seats. I had called about cameras earlier and they said no cameras at the venue but everyone had cameras and they totally allowed them during her set. I was so bummed that I had left mine at home.
She came roaring out with “I Stand” and though having some monitor problems she kept everyone going through the technical difficulties. She ended up singing all my favorites from Brave, Gorgeous, Here, some classic 80’s music, but the best surprise for me was when she sang “No Day But Today”.
Idina got her big break when she signed on to a little off Broadway show called “Rent”. 20 years later Rent is considered one of the best Broadway shows and has been seen by millions of people. The show has toured all across (not with the original cast). Anyway I have loved Rent for years and years and when she busted into “No Day But Today” I sang along at the top of my lungs with a few little tears.
The cool part is that someone videoed the show and most of it already up on you tube. Here is “No Day But Today”

For her encore she came back with a roaring version of ‘Defying Gravity’ from another “little” Broadway show called ‘Wicked’. She played The Wicked Witch and made the song ‘Defying Gravity’ famous with her booming big vocals.

The show ended after ‘Defying Gravity’ but it was a night that I will cheerish for a very long time. Honestly it was one of the best shows I have seen and I have seen a lot.
I was really blown away by just how funny and down to earth Idina is. What I saw on stage is just not something you can pull off if you are not just a funny and a little bit crazy person who is having fun living her life. Also Totally loved when she forgot the lyrics to a few songs and blurted out a few obsenties here and there. It was just hilarious.

I was in the front row @ this concert and had an amazing time! I cried when she sang No Day But Today, and i about had a heart attack when she started Defying Gravity! My favorite part was when she went through that whole thing about how her career started!
