With a whole lot of “puussshhh” the Church Basement Roadshow came rolled into Nashville last night. This was by far the best book tour I have ever seen. It was just genius.
Tony Jones, Doug Pagitt, and Mark Scandrette are on tour together promoting each of their new books. I got to the church early to help set up as part of the Nashville Cohorts. I got to spend a little bit of time talking to Doug Pagitt about his book ” A Christianity Worth Believing” which is one of the best new books I have read in a VERY long time.
Before the show the guys were pushing the “balm of Gilead” as a cure all elixir. Even sprinkling it on heads. In this photo Dixon gets his head sprinkled with oil.
With revival music and lots of good humor we heard of the troubles of 1908.
As the night moved on each of the guys took turns reading from their books and sharing stories of how faith is not one sized, but comes in many shapes, forms, movements, and ways.
It was a great night filled with a whole lot of laughs.
