Jughead – Lost

My thoughts while I am watching tonight’s lost episode ‘jughead’

  • back on the island where ‘the  wash up’ ?
  • Penny is very pregnant?
  • Okay where are we in time that the boy is bigger now?
  • Okay back up to date on the time.
  • More people dead..pretty soon there will be no one on the island left
  • So are these guys army or Dharma?
  • So that was Daniel working for Dharma back in the day.
  • Desmond should not make promises he can not keep. Playing with poor Penny’s heart.
  • So are these young Others we have met before?
  • Was the army doing testing on the island?
  • No Daniel on record at the university?
  • Yes, what girl?
  • Why did Daniel go to states?
  • Widmore is Daniel’s benefactor?
  • ‘Jacob sent me’
  • So is that little Charles as James?
  • I bet it is nice to meet him finally.
  • There son’s name is Charlie….that is awesome.
  • That is why Richard visited John because John told him too.
  • Why is Charlotte being affected but no one else?

_200_1000_book17coverOnce I got past the ‘feel good title’ of the book I found several useful nuggets of information to put into practice in daily life.

Through out the book Dr. Cury encourages the reader to perform a 3 step process in evaluating negative thoughts:

  • Doubt
  • Criticize
  • Determine

In each chapter Dr. Cury uses examples from the life of Jesus to illustrate this model of right thinking. While I understand Dr. Cury’s use of Jesus’ life as a model to follow, I found the scientific explanations and brain chemistry information very informative. I am always a little skeptical when people use the name or life of Christ to prove a theory, and this book proved no exception.

Chapter 1 introduces the idea that we are the authors of our own story, but often we allow the “others” in our story to take over and write the script while we are on autopilot, taking in whatever comes as fact. Each of the 11 chapters that follow build on this idea and give helpful lists of ideas to combat negativity and anxiety in everyday life.

The chapters end on a practical note, with exercises and reminders for daily practice.

Over-all I feel that this book has a text-book style more appropriate for the classroom than the average reader. However, I did find the chapter on memory fascinating, and worth re-reading.
